Would you relocate O.C. to D.C.?

My Register colleague Jan Norman has an interesting tale involving MVM Technologies from San Clemente. That company that makes printing supplies says its moving to Washington D.C. where it will lease two buildings and will add 270 jobs in the first year. MVM also says its nine current employees will make the move east.

We dug into the data at Sperlings Best Cities to see how the two towns shaped up, cost-wise! (Well leave the political debate of Californias business climate and the weather tussle of San Clementes sea breezes vs. D.C.s humidity to others!)

By this math, at least, D.C. looks cheaper. That probably assumes you live in the city sprawl vs. the coastal cottages of south Orange County. (Trust us, a move to the D.C. suburbs subjects a house shopper to Orange County-like house pricing!)

By Sperling cost indexes, Orange County is …

So, image if you had the choice!
What would you do?

Would you relocate O.C. to D.C.?

Chart below details some of the economics behind a O.C. to D.C. move, thanks to Sperlings Best Cities:
