DP Partners seals deal with Winpak Packaging for manufacturing facility in Sauk Village

Dermody Properties (DP), the parent company of DP Partners, has announced an agreement with Winpak Portion Packaging, Inc. – a multi-national packaging manufacturing company – to develop a 267,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in the DP LogistiCenter at Sauk Village, Ill.

Winpak Portion Packaging employs approximately 200 people and currently operates a manufacturing facility in nearby South Chicago Heights producing plastic cups and trays for food and beverages as well as other packaging.The new facility will be an expansion of the manufacturer’s local operations and will create 40 jobs once the facility is complete in spring of 2012, with more jobs in the future based on Winpak’s plans to expand the facility to a full 600,000 square feet on the 28 acre site.

The State of Illinois provided a $1.6 million business investment package to Winpak Portion Packaging to help fund the new state of the art manufacturing facility at 1111 Winpak Way, which complements the company’s $30 million investment for land, building and equipment.

U.S. Commerce Department Reports New-Home Sales are Stabilizing

Although new home sales actually fell last month, the U.S. Commerce Department says that the new-home market is stabilizing thanks to increases in prices and declining inventories[1]. Also showing signs of optimism are the country’s builders, who broke ground on more houses in June than in any time prior in 2011. New homes are attractive not just because the construction creates valuable jobs and production opportunities, but because they drive up median prices since they tend to be more expensive than previously-owned homes (in June, $235,200 vs. $184,300).
